New Yoga class at KUNST-STOFF

Posted by: Justin    Posted date:  May 16, 2011  |  No comment

UPDATE: I'm no longer teaching at KUNST-STOFF arts. See my yoga page for a current schedule, which includes Saturday and Sunday class at 11am, at The Loft SF (aka: The Yoga Loft). Come out to this morning class at the new KUNST-STOFF arts space, located at 1 Grove St. near the Civic Center BART station. Monday & Wednesday, 10am at KUNST-STOFF arts (click for more info)
Start your week with this energizing practice designed to mobilize the body and quiet the mind. For dancers and non-dancers alike, this class is traditionally based and will incorporate freeform and structured movement that will ensure you're safely warmed, worked, envigorated and rested. Beginners welcome.

Ensemble Improvisation for Performance

Weekly sessions will provide structure and practice in improvisation, and will develop perceptual skills crucial to ensemble performance.

Classes will emphasize:
  • Noticing the impact of "feeling" states in performance.
  • Recognizing ones personal, choreographic "ethic".
  • The use of choice in creating a collaborative Instant Composition.

Recently I took over for Vincent Cacialano's movement analysis class in the Modern Theater Department at the AHK Theaterschool, Amsterdam. As an assignment the students each created a simple choreography and then used anatomical terms to describe the movement of the bones and major joints.
